Le Verrou Bleu - Maison de Bijoux by Quarry
A curated collection of French-inspired elegance.
Bold. Romantic. Artfully made.
Rich in texture, history, and artisan craftsmanship, this statement necklace blends recycled African trade beads, rare vintage Miriam Haskell findings, and architectural pewter elements into a design that feels both worldly and timeless. The result is a striking fusion of sustainability, storytelling, and old-world romance.
Handcrafted with Blue Wave Marine recycled glass beads from Ghana, West Africa, each bead varies slightly in shape and texture (approximately 5–9 x 8–9mm), celebrating the beauty of handmade artistry. Produced primarily by the Krobo tribe using centuries-old techniques, these frosted trade beads are made from recycled glass, including vintage beverage and medicine bottles. The glass is crushed into powder, poured into handcrafted clay molds, and fired in specialized ovens to create beads rich in character, texture, and cultural heritage.
The luminous blue tones evoke ocean water and weathered sea glass, while the use of recycled materials reflects a thoughtful commitment to sustainability and artisan preservation.
Each Krobo bead has been individually placed on sterling silver pins with sterling silver accent beads on either side, then carefully linked together by hand to create graceful movement and dimension throughout the necklace.
Adding further rarity and historical significance are vintage antique silver rectangular and round beads from the Miriam Haskell Collection. These exceptional findings were sourced in New York City from a defunct Rhode Island warehouse that once supplied materials for Miriam Haskell jewelry and earlier Haskell-inspired designs during the 1980s. Their inclusion brings a rare layer of vintage artistry and collectible history to the piece.
At the center rests a bold artisan-hammered antique pewter toggle clasp paired with a decorative antique pewter padlock charm — a symbolic nod to connection, memory, and enduring strength. Along the back, a chunky antique pewter multi-ring oval chain introduces architectural balance and modern contrast with substantial handcrafted links measuring 16x11mm and coordinating 11x7mm connector rings.
Every component has been thoughtfully selected and artisan-crafted, creating a necklace that feels both substantial and effortlessly elegant.
