The Quarry Shop Blog

Let me start by saying—I don’t imagine everyone is waiting to hear what I have to say. But I do genuinely enjoy sharing. After stepping away from my executive corporate role, I found myself with a renewed energy for working, researching, writing, and connecting through ideas.

This blog is my space to do just that. Whether or not my first post strikes your interest, there will be plenty more to come. If something here resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Even more, I look forward to learning from others through the conversations that follow.

If there’s a topic you’d like me to explore, please let me know—I’m all ears. Here’s to the start of many shared stories and discoveries.

Cold Brew Season Is Here: Everything You Need to Know

Cold Brew Coffee on Ice with Cream
Cold Brew Coffee on Ice with Cream

I like to think of myself as somewhat of a barista—or at least, at home I am. I’ve tried just about every brewing method under the sun, but cold brew holds a special place in my heart, especially when the sun starts warming things up. And since April is officially Cold Brew Month at The Quarry Coffee Shop, it’s only right that we give this smooth, refreshing brew the spotlight it deserves.

We're also running a little something special this month (take a look on the site!), and while there’s already some cold brew info available, I wanted to dive deeper with you here—share a few tips, recipes, and thoughts to help you make the perfect cold brew at home.

What Is Cold Brew, Really?

Cold brew isn’t just iced coffee. It’s made by steeping coarse coffee grounds in cold or room-temp water for 12–24 hours. The result? A smooth, low-acidity coffee that’s naturally sweeter and incredibly easy to sip on. No bitterness. No rush. Just chill coffee vibes.

Why People Love It (Including Me)

  • It’s easier on the stomach thanks to lower acidity.

  • It’s versatile—drink it straight, add milk or sweet cream, or turn it into a coffee mocktail.

  • It keeps in the fridge for up to a week, so one batch can last days.

  • And let’s be honest, it just looks cool in a glass with a few ice cubes.

How to Make Cold Brew at Home (Super Simple)

You don’t need fancy equipment—though I won’t stop you from buying a cold brew maker if you want to go all in.

Here’s my go-to method:

  1. Grind your beans coarse. Think sea salt texture. (Pro tip: We’ve got a few beans in the shop that were made for cold brew.)

  2. Use a 1:4 coffee-to-water ratio for a concentrate (or 1:8 for ready-to-drink).

  3. Steep in the fridge or on the counter for 12–24 hours.

  4. Strain it well—a mesh strainer, cheesecloth, or French press works great.

  5. Serve it over ice and enjoy as-is, or add milk, flavored syrup, or a splash of something fun.

Fun Ways to Enjoy Cold Brew

  • Sweet Cream Cold Brew: A little vanilla syrup + homemade sweet cream = dreamy.

  • Cold Brew Tonic: Cold brew over ice + tonic water + a citrus twist. Sounds weird. Tastes amazing.

  • Oat Milk Cold Brew: Smooth meets smooth.

What to Brew With

Not all beans are created equal for cold brew. You’ll want something medium to dark roast, with chocolatey, nutty, or sweet fruit notes. On our site, check out our Cold Brew Coffee—it's one of my favorites for a rich, bold cold brew that doesn’t go bitter.

Final Sip

Whether you’re a cold brew veteran or just curious to try it, now’s the perfect time. Check out our cold brew picks, grab a bag, and start brewing your own batch at home. I’d love to see what you come up with—tag us if you post your creations!

Cheers to Cold Brew Month. ☕❄️
